Sibling Workshops
I found this interesting article about sibling workshops. These are groups that meet regularly throughout the area. Siblings are able to learn from one another and establish new relationships. You can access the full article at ABC news.
The research area for my PhD dissertation concerns siblings of persons with autism. As an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) with family certification, I hope to keep families with persons of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at their optimal level of function.
My intent for this blog is to provide a network where siblings from all types of families and from all over the world can learn from each other. Through the commonality of having a brother or sister with autism, there is a connection to the autistic and a family life that only you can fully understand.
This common thread materializes through the discussion of your interests, your feelings, and your thoughts about autism and life in general. It will provide valuable insight for how to make life better for you and your sibling with ASD.
Let's work together in discovering what fabric families of persons with autism are made from. We've got a lot to learn!
